Musculoskeletal pain can be easily dismissed as something inevitable - something that comes with old age, so to speak.Īnd although the correlation between old age and musculoskeletal pain is evident and easy to accept - it doesn’t have to be this way. It is, however, the most accurate way to describe the type of pain that occurs anywhere in the musculoskeletal system (i.e., muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, discs, blood vessels, etc.). Depending on the situation, it can mean vastly different things. Musculoskeletal pain is a general term, though. The pain that can result from “wear and tear” is called musculoskeletal pain. Gradually, the pain gets harder and harder to ignore. The damage that occurs every day is small and unnoticeable - but it can build up over time. When a huge part of someone’s day is spent doing repetitive movements, those same movements can slowly and unintentionally damage muscle and tissue.
